our Process Overview

We admire the ones who value the fine art and details of bespoke stationery, bespoke anything really. We care deeply for the high quality products we offer our clients because we want your one-of-a-kind pieces to last a lifetime: your tangible heirloom. Our custom design experience is for the couples who are just as passionate as we are about all things paper and are looking to translate those unique details into their guests’ invitation experience. With an amazing custom-designed invitation suite individually meaningful to you, you are giving yourself the ability to go back and FEEL the details that brought everything together.

Our process is the same for all custom special occasion invitations and paper goods services. Our full service wedding clients receive two complimentary invitation suite sets in a heirloom keepsake box. Below is a brief summary on what you will expect working along side Leslie & Paper.

“When the music has stopped playing, when there is no more cake, and your guests have gone home, the feel of a memory will be preserved for a lifetime.”

Step 1: The proposal

Once you’ve contacted us, this is where we want to know everything about you and your fiancé! We want to know how you envision telling your love story through your wedding paper goods. Once we’ve gathered some great details that will help us bring your vision to life, we will put together a proposal based on the printing and paper we determine will best fit your needs. We work with only the highest quality printing methods. To learn more on each printing style, please scroll down. Next, after you’ve read through and signed the contract (glad to have you on board!), a 50% non-refundable retainer from your initial quote will be required at this time before moving forward with our next phase: a sketch.

Step 2: The fun stuff

In our first design process, we provide you with a sketch that will outline our ideas for your invitation suite to ensure there are no miscommunications before we start creating your custom artwork and calligraphy! Throughout our sketching stage, we will refine paper types and choose any beautiful embellishment details we plan to add to the suite. Think wax seals & silk ribbons. At this point, you can sit back and relax while we begin creating your beautiful invitations. Next, after we’ve completed creating your pieces, we will send you a digital proof showing you all of your event details, custom artwork, and calligraphy in the layout discussed from our initial sketch. Once your final proof has been approved, we will head to print!

step 3: the finale

While your beautiful paper is being printed, we begin addressing your envelopes with our handwritten calligraphy. Once your suite has finished printing, we begin hand-assembling and applying postage. Then we hand-deliver them to the post office. We pride ourselves in providing our clients with a stress-free custom design experience from start to finish, and we mean business. You will never have to worry about forgetting to send your invites out on time or if you missed an enclosure card in one of your envelopes. We ensure every detail is perfect so your time is spent on other important tasks for your special event! If you continue to work with us for your day-of stationery, then the fun isn’t over quite yet!

Our current minimum investment for custom stationery is $2,500. Clients with L&P invest an average budget between $5,000 - $10,000 in paper.

printing methods

Depending on what type of printing you choose, they all yield gorgeous, luxurious results. Each type of printing helps us give your suite a certain look and feel through high quality printing methods. We specialize in flat printing, letterpress, and foil press. In order to recommend which printing method would be best for you, we get to know you through your initial inquiry to us as we piece together the important details of your personal style and wedding aesthetic vision.

flat printing ($)

A fancy way of saying “high quality digital printing” is a combination of ink and paper creating an image that is flat and smooth with the surface of the paper. The number of colors it can produce are limitless which is why we love this form of printing! Flat print is also our most economical offering.

Turnaround time: 2-3 weeks from approval (not including shipping time)

letterpress ($$$)

Letterpress is a timeless and traditional form of old-fashioned printing which is created by using an inked plate to press onto the paper. Each piece of paper is hand-fed by an individual, making it a labor of love. If you are one to love textural details, then this printing is for you. The indentation of the plate against the paper creates pillow-like effects. Because letterpress requires a plate to be ordered and created, is labor intensive, and requires a longer set-up time, this form of printing is one of our highest offerings.

Turnaround time: 4-6 weeks upon approval (not including shipping time)

foil printing ($$$)

Foil printing is very similar to letterpress as it requires a making of a plate to press onto the paper. The only difference is instead of applying ink to the letterpress, a sheet of metallic foil is laid on top of your paper and a plate is pressed down to make a beautiful metallic impression. Foil printing is for the lovers of anything shiny, metallic, or matte finishes.
