The L&P creative Process

We admire the ones who value the Fine Art and details of bespoke stationery, bespoke anything really.
Our suites are created using high-quality materials and designed from scratch. Our custom design experience is for the couples who are just as passionate as we are when it comes to their overall wedding papeterie investment. Our couples share the understanding that wedding stationery is vital in sharing their remarkable story, personalities, and most importantly setting the tone for their special day. We specifically look to translate intentionally unique details into your guests’ invitation experience. With an amazing bespoke invitation suite individually meaningful to you, you are giving yourself the ability to go back and feel the details that brought everything together.

how to begin

I. Booking

Once you have filled out and submitted your inquiry web-form, this is where we begin to learn all about you and your event. Please include all the important details for your event’s location, timelines and color palette, along with inspiration from our Instagram page or our Leslie & Paper’s portfolio to assist us in creating a custom brochure estimate for your consideration. If you are happy with what we have proposed and you are ready to move forward, we will send you a secure file which will include your contract and your payment-plan link. A 30% non-refundable deposit (while most stationery designers require a 50% deposit) along with a signed contract will officially secure your spot on our design calendar.

II. The sketch & design stage

Shortly after your deposit has been made, we will provide you with a sketch concept that will outline our ideas for your invitation suite to set up expectations and to ensure there are no miscommunications before we start creating your custom artwork and calligraphy. Our clients understand it is a sketch concept only a.k.a nothing pretty but a very essential part of the creative process. Throughout our sketching stage, we will refine paper types, design layout and choose any beautiful embellishment details we plan to add to the suite. Once the sketch concept has been approved, we begin creating your beautiful invitations. After we have completed creating your pieces, we will send you a digital mock-up proof showing you all of your event details, custom artwork, and calligraphy in the layout discussed from our initial sketch concept. Once your final digital proof has been approved, we will order your materials and then head to print.

III. the finale

Your beautiful suite will now be in production. Once your suite has finished printing, we will begin addressing your envelopes with our handwritten calligraphy, hand-assembling and applying postage. We then hand-deliver your assembled invitations to the post office. We pride ourselves in providing our clients with a stress-free custom design experience from start to finish. You will never have to worry about your invitation wordage, forgetting to send your invites out on time or if you put the correct amount of postage on your envelopes just to name a few. We ensure every detail is perfect and smooth sailing so your valuable time is spent with the ones you love. Once your invitations have been mailed, we will begin brainstorming your day-of reception pieces if you signed on with us for this next project.

printing methods

Based on your overall invitation budget and aesthetic, all of our offerings yield gorgeous, luxurious results. Each type of luxe printing helps us give your suite a certain look and feel through high quality printing methods. We specialize in flat printing, letterpress, and foil press. During your initial inquiry with us, we piece together the important details of your personal style, wedding aesthetic vision and overall invitation budget to recommend which printing method option is best for you.

*Please note that all proposals start out with our Flat printing option
and your packages may be upgraded to Letterpress and Foil printing if your budget allows for it.*

flat printing ($)

standard choice

A fancy way of saying “digital printing”, our flat printing is a combination of high quality inks and paper creating an image that is flat and smooth with the surface of the paper. The number of colors it can produce are limitless which is why we love this form of printing. All proposals begin with this option. It is also our most economical offering.

Turnaround time: 2-3 weeks from approval (not including shipping time)

letterpress ($$$)

upgrade choice

Letterpress is a timeless and traditional form of old-fashioned printing which is created by using an inked plate to press onto the paper. Each piece of paper is hand-fed by an individual, making it a labor of love. If you are one to love textural details, then this printing is for you. The indentation of the plate against the paper creates pillow-like effects. Because letterpress requires a plate to be ordered and created, is labor intensive, and requires a longer set-up time, this form of printing is one of our highest offerings.

Turnaround time: 4-6 weeks upon approval (not including shipping time)

foil printing ($$$)

upgrade choice

Foil printing is very similar to letterpress as it requires a making of a plate to press onto the paper. The only difference is instead of applying ink to the letterpress, a sheet of metallic foil is laid on top of your paper and a plate is pressed down to make a beautiful metallic impression. Foil printing is for the lovers of anything shiny, metallic, or matte finishes.

Turnaround time: 4-6 weeks upon approval (not including shipping time)
